Our Mission
The Maryland Coalition for Virtual School Access is a statewide alliance of families and educators dedicated to ensuring that every child in Maryland has access to a local or regional public virtual school with synchronous instruction, regardless of their county of residence. We believe that public virtual schools must provide the same level of service, instruction, and opportunities as in-person public schools, empowering all students to achieve their full potential through equitable and high-quality education
Who Are We?
The Maryland Coalition for Virtual School Access is a statewide organization comprised of parents and educators united by a shared mission: to ensure that every child in Maryland has access to a high-quality synchronous public virtual school, regardless of their county of residence.
Many families and students across Maryland who relied on synchronous virtual schools for access to education and community have lost that access as local school boards reduce availability, increase asynchronous instruction, or eliminate virtual schools altogether. This loss has left thousands of students without the critical learning environment they need to thrive. Students who previously had a classroom full of peers, a faculty of full-time teachers, and full-day synchronous instruction are now left without fundamental access to a public education.
Our coalition is working at the state and local levels to raise awareness of the urgent need for synchronous public virtual education, as well as the fiscal opportunities they can create.
We also recognize the power of collaboration. To amplify our impact, we are building partnerships with organizations and advocacy groups that share our commitment to equitable access to education for all students, ensuring that no child is left behind in their pursuit of academic success.
